Here’s a sure sign of spring’s arrival with a soccer point of view. The bubble is down at BMO Field!

Work began Monday night on the procedure which takes several days which leaves TFC without access to their home pitch to train on for a few days. In this case it means all week, since their Tuesday session was the last one before the team departs Thursday for Columbus and their match with the Crew on Saturday.

So Tuesday it was indoors at the Hershey Sportsplex in Mississauga. Smiles all around as you can imagine as a result of Saturday’s 3-2 win over Kansas City in the opener. The good news for TFC fans is everyone is healthy. The bad news is two midfielders, Amado Guevara and Carl Robinson, will be away on international duty this weekend. They’ve already left to hook up with Honduras and Wales respectively. With Robinson gone you’d be right to assume that rookie midfielder Sam Cronin will get his second straight start. He likely would have anyway. His performance against Kansas City gave TFC head coach John Carver no reason to take him out now.

Same thing with the rookie between the posts. Carver says he’s almost certain that Stefan Frei will get the call again, and why not? The two goals he conceded weren’t his fault. He told me there’s no way he was ever going to stop Davey Arnaud’s first strike. He also confirmed what we suspected on the second one. He was completely unsighted.

Carver says he has a couple of things to think about in terms of TFC’s line-up for Saturday. He probably won’t have the answers firm in his own mind until Friday.
