Toronto FC midfielder Amado Guevara returned to BMO Field to start preseason training on Wednesday morning. The Honduran missed the first two days of preseason because of international duty. Guevara will stay with the team for the next few days before leaving to join the Honduras squad ahead of a World Cup Qualifier against Costa Rica on February 11th.

“I’m very happy to be back here and to see my teammates again and everyone at the club. It’s good to start preseason and I am excited to be here,” said Guevara. “It is easier for me coming into preseason as I haven’t stopped working throughout the winter because I have had international obligations with Honduras.”

Guevara scored four goals in 21 appearances for Toronto in 2008 and believes the squad has the potential to have a successful season. “The players here are good and they are very fit, but more than anything they have a lot of motivation. Everybody is very happy to be back with the team.”

“It is a big advantage that the core of the team is returning for the new season,” explained Guevara. “We know how to play together as a team and it is a very solid team today. We will have a few new additions coming in and it should be easy for them to join in with us and learn to play with the team because there is already a good spirit amongst everyone. Everything is in place for us to have a more successful campaign than last year.”
