The U.S. national team has called in a preliminary 19-player roster for the team’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Guatemala on Nov. 19 in Colorado.

TFC backup keeper Brian Edwards and TFC striker Chad Barrett have been invited to the training camp.

Players whose teams lose in the MLS conference finals as well as some other European-based players are  possibilities to be called in.

Barrett, 23, is getting his first invitation to the U.S. National Team as a member of Toronto FC. The forward earned his first cap with the senior squad on June 22, 2008 when he came in as a second half substitute in the U.S.’s 1-0 victory over Barbados in the second leg of their World Cup Qualifier. Barrett was previously a member of the U-23 squad that took part in 2008 Olympic Qualifying.

Edwards, 24, is getting his first ever call into the U.S. National Team. In his first professional season in MLS, Edwards appeared in six games, all as a starter compiling 540 minutes making 23 saves, with a GAA of 1.33. He also appeared in eight Reserve league matches playing 689 minutes.

The United States, along with Costa Rica and El Salvador have already advanced to the final round of CONCACAF Qualifying from Group 1 with the remaining three teams to be determined on November 19.
